E-MTBs split into hardtail (front suspension only, lighter, cheaper) and full-suspension (front + rear, heavier, more expensive, better on rough trails). Mid-drive motors (Bosch, Shimano EP) climb better than hub motors but cost more. For UK + EU riders, EAPC compliance caps motors at 250 W and 25 km/h — international SKUs unlocked to 28 mph cannot legally be ridden on UK roads.
