Our verdict
The LINGTENG E8 ($95.99 at our last check) is a 6 mph kick-start electric scooter for ages 6 to 9 and riders up to 110 lb, weighing 10 lb. It is one of the cheapest and best-selling kids' electric scooters on Amazon, with 4 and 6 mph modes, four low handlebar heights and light-up wheels and deck. Its listing states no UL 2272 certification and describes only a rear foot brake, with no motor, battery or reliable range figure, which is why it is not one of our kids' picks.

The numbers
LINGTENG E8 Kids' Electric Scooter is a kids' electric scooter for riders aged 6 to 9 that scores 6.4/10 on our editorial rubric, last verified on November 1, 2026. Amazon lists it at $95.99 right now. On Amazon it currently ranks #17 Best Seller in Electric Scooters. The maker claims a top speed of 6 mph. The scooter weighs 10 lb and is rated for riders up to 110 lb. It rides on 6-inch solid tires, with a rear fender foot brake only. Neither the listing nor the maker states UL 2272 certification. Follow the maker's age and weight limits and use a helmet every ride. It best suits small children of 6 to 9 and under 110 lb on their first electric scooter.

- + Four low handlebar heights, 27.5 to 31.8 inches, for small riders
- + Rides as a plain kick scooter when the battery is flat
Cons

- Parents who want a slow 4 mph mode and a low price for short supervised rides
What the LINGTENG E8 is
The E8 is a small stand-up scooter that rides as a plain kick scooter or, once the child pushes off, as an electric one. LINGTENG sells it on Amazon in black, blue and pink, and Amazon's item details name the model E8. It was #18 in Amazon's Electric Scooters on November 1, 2026, with an overall sales rank of 10,877; it was #23 on October 18 and #20 on October 28. We found no LINGTENG website, so every figure on this page is the Amazon listing's, and the listing leaves a lot out. We have not ridden it.

Which child it fits
Which child it fits
The title and bullets say ages 6 to 9. The blue listing adds, in one bullet, that it fits from 5 to 9; the pink listing says 6 to 10, and Amazon's age field tops out at 10. Plan on 6 to 9. The weight limit is 110 lb, and the scooter itself weighs 10 lb, one of the lightest kids' scooters we cover, so a young child can wheel it and an adult can carry it with one hand. The handlebar sets at four heights, 27.5, 29, 30.7 and 31.8 inches. That is low next to most kids' scooters (the Gyroor H30 Max starts at 34 inches), which suits a small 6 year old and is also why older children outgrow it. The listing gives no rider height range, so check the top setting against a tall 8 or 9 year old before you buy.
Speed, the kick start and where kids can ride
Speed, the kick start and where kids can ride
There are two speed modes, 4 mph and 6 mph, the slowest top speed of any kids' electric scooter we cover: the Gotrax GKS Mini tops out at 7.5 mph and the Segway Ninebot C2 Lite at 9.9 mph. The motor will not start until the scooter is rolling at about 2 mph, so the child kicks off first and it cannot lurch away from a standstill. With the power off it is an ordinary kick scooter, which helps when the battery runs flat halfway around the park. Start a new rider in the 4 mph mode.
We treat every kids' electric scooter as something to ride with an adult nearby, on paths, driveways and quiet spaces away from traffic. Many states set a minimum age or a license rule for electric scooters on public roads; California, for example, requires a driver's license or instruction permit (Vehicle Code §21235). Check your town's rules on sidewalks and paths.
Battery, charging and range
Battery, charging and range
The listing does not give the motor's wattage or the battery's voltage, amp-hours or watt-hours; it says only that the battery is large capacity. It claims 65 minutes of riding a charge and a 5-hour charge time. The listing's product details have also given a 10-mile range, which does not add up: 65 minutes at the 6 mph top speed is at most 6.5 miles. Plan on the 65 minutes, and on less for a heavier child, cold weather or a hilly route. Our usual range estimate is built from adult riders, so we give none for kids' scooters.
Let an adult do the charging, with the charger that came in the box, on a hard floor where you can see it and away from doors and exits, and unplug it when it is full. Do not leave it charging overnight in a bedroom.
Brakes and build
Brakes and build
The E8 has one brake: the rear fender doubles as a foot brake that the child presses down with a heel. The listing describes no hand brake and no electronic brake. That is the weakest point for a beginner, who has to learn to move weight onto the back foot to stop, and it is one of the two reasons the E8 is not one of our kids' picks, all of which have a hand or electronic brake. At 4 to 6 mph the stopping distances are short, but practice stopping on a flat, empty surface until it is automatic before the first real ride.
The front wheel is a light-up PU wheel and the deck has rainbow LED lights; the listing's product details give 6-inch solid tires, which cannot puncture. It has a kickstand and non-slip deck and grips. An Amazon field lists dual suspension, but nothing in the description shows any, so assume none. The listing does not say the scooter folds. LINGTENG gives a 1-year warranty and says it replies to questions within 24 hours, and the bullets ask you to tighten every screw during assembly before the first ride.
Safety: UL 2272, recalls and helmets
Safety: UL 2272, recalls and helmets
The E8's listing states no UL 2272 certification. UL 2272 is the fire and electrical safety standard for a scooter's whole electrical system. New York City has required it for e-scooters sold there since September 2023 (Local Law 39), and California has required UL 2272 battery testing for motorized scooters sold there since January 2026 (SB 1271). That missing claim is the main reason we leave the E8 out of our best electric scooters for kids picks, all of which at least claim UL 2272. No CPSC recall found for LINGTENG as of November 2026.
The helmet is the safety feature that counts most. CPSC estimates e-scooters sent 79,300 people to US emergency rooms in 2024, and only 18% of injured riders in CPSC's data were wearing a helmet. California requires a helmet for motorized scooter riders under 18. Buy one that fits your child's head now, and buckle it before every ride. Our scooter safety guide covers helmets, charging and how to search recalls.
How it compares
How it compares
- Gotrax GKS Mini ($119.99 at our last check): also kick-start and also listing-only, for ages 6 to 12 and 120 lb at 7.5 mph, but its listing states UL 2272 and it adds an electronic brake to the foot brake.
- Gyroor H30 Max ($159.99 at our last check): for ages 6 to 12 and 132 lb, with three speed modes from about 6 mph to 10 mph, an electronic brake on a hand button plus a foot brake, and a UL 2272 claim. It costs more and is faster.
- Segway Ninebot C2 ($142.48 at our last check for the C2 Lite): our top kids' pick, for ages 6 to 10 and 110 lb, with a hand-lever drum brake, a 7.5 mph Standard mode and Segway's statement that TÜV Rheinland tested it to UL 2272.
- SIMATE S5 ($139.96 at our last check): another popular kids' listing with no UL 2272 claim, for ages 6 to 14 and 154 lb at 8.7 mph, with an electronic brake as well as a foot brake.
Who should buy it, and who should skip it
Who should buy it, and who should skip it
Buy the E8 for a small child of 6 to 9 and under 110 lb, as a first electric scooter for short, supervised rides, when a low price and a slow 4 mph mode matter most. As a gift it is light enough for a young child to manage, and it still works as a kick scooter when the battery is flat. Skip it if you want a UL 2272 claim, a hand or electronic brake, or any published battery figure; the Gotrax GKS Mini has the first two, and the Gyroor H30 Max and the Segway C2 have all three. Skip it too for a child of 9 or more, who will soon outgrow its handlebar.

Frequently asked questions
What age is the LINGTENG electric scooter for?
Ages 6 to 9 and riders up to 110 lb, per the title and bullets. The pink listing says 6 to 10 and the blue listing mentions 5 to 9, so the edges are soft; the low handlebar, 27.5 to 31.8 inches, is what a tall 9 year old outgrows first. LINGTENG publishes no rider height range.
How fast does the LINGTENG kids scooter go?
4 mph or 6 mph, picked by mode, which makes it the slowest kids' electric scooter we cover. The motor starts only after the child kicks the scooter up to about 2 mph, so it does not jump forward from a standstill. Start a new rider in the 4 mph mode.
Is the LINGTENG scooter UL 2272 certified?
Its listing states no UL 2272 certification, and we found no LINGTENG website to check. That is the main reason it is not one of our kids' picks. The Gotrax GKS Mini, Gyroor H30 Max and Segway C2 all carry a UL 2272 claim. No CPSC recall found for LINGTENG as of November 2026.
Does the LINGTENG E8 have brakes?
One: the rear fender is a foot brake the child presses down with a heel. The listing describes no hand brake and no electronic brake. At 4 to 6 mph that can be enough, but have your child practice stopping on a flat, empty surface before riding anywhere else.
How long does the LINGTENG scooter battery last?
About 65 minutes of riding, per the listing, with a 5-hour charge. The product details have also said 10 miles, which cannot be right: 65 minutes at the 6 mph top speed is 6.5 miles at most. No battery size is published.
