How we estimate range

We estimate range by dividing the battery's capacity in watt-hours by 22 to 27 watt-hours per mile. That band comes from the middle half of 32 full-speed range tests that eRideHero and RiderGuide published for 26 commuter scooters, adjusted to a rider of about 175 to 180 lb on city streets with stops and small hills. We have not ridden these scooters ourselves. Makers that publish their test conditions rate range for a 150 to 165 lb rider at about 9 to 10 mph on flat pavement at 77°F; in the full-speed tests, scooters covered a median 59% of the advertised range. You will get less in the cold, on steep hills or if you weigh more, and more if you ride slower.

The numbers

Joyhis JS01 Electric Scooter with Seat is a folding, seated electric scooter that scores 6.5/10 on our editorial rubric, last verified on October 19, 2026. Amazon listed it at $170 as of October 22, 2026. Prices change often, so treat that as a snapshot. On Amazon it currently ranks #80 Best Seller in Electric Scooters. It pairs a 350 W motor and a 187 Wh battery, rated for a claimed range of up to 15 miles and a top speed of 19 mph. We estimate about 7 to 9 miles a charge for a 175 to 180 lb rider at full speed, because advertised ranges are measured with lighter riders at lower speeds. Its 19 mph top speed as shipped is above California's 15 mph scooter limit, so California riders must hold it to 15. New Jersey's legal e-scooter is a stand-up scooter, so a seated model is not one there. It is under New York's 20 mph e-scooter limit. Scooters are not e-bikes, so the US e-bike classes do not apply. The scooter weighs 32 lb and is rated for riders up to 265 lb. It rides on 8.5-inch solid tires, with an electronic (EBS) brake plus a rear drum brake. The seller states UL 2272 certification (on the Amazon listing or the maker's own site); we could not verify it in the certifier's directory. It best suits short, flat errands where you want to sit.

  • - Solid tires and no suspension on the seated options
  • - One listing family mixes seated, unseated and suspension options
  • - No website, no water rating and no disc brake

Who is this for?

  • Short, flat errands where you want to sit
  • Riders who want a seated scooter light enough to lift

What the Joyhis JS01 is, and which option to pick

The JS01 is a standard 8.5-inch folding kick scooter sold with a seat on a post clamped to the deck, so you can sit or stand. Joyhis sells on Amazon only. Its listing family was #44 in Amazon's Electric Scooters on October 19, 2026, with 4.0 stars from 418 ratings, and the family's own description sums up the problem: "350W/500W... 19/22MPH & 15/22Mile... with Seat (Option), Dual Suspension (Option)". Some options have a seat, some do not, and some add suspension.

The options whose photos show the seat are Grey and White, and their bullets describe the seat, a phone holder, 350 W, 19 mph and 15 miles. The Pink option is also titled "with Seat", but its main photo shows a folded scooter with no seat, so we do not link it. Before you buy, check that the photo of the option you picked shows the seat.

Speed, power and where you can ride it

Joyhis lists a 350 W brushless motor, a 19 mph top speed and a 15% climb rating, with an app for speed, battery and ride data. Its 19 mph top speed is under New York's 20 mph e-scooter limit, and New York's definition counts a scooter with a seat (VTL §114-e). It is above California's 15 mph limit (Vehicle Code §22411), so California riders must hold it to 15; California's definition covers a scooter with a floorboard to stand on or a seat and footrests in its place (§407.5). New Jersey's legal e-scooter is a stand-up scooter, so a seated model is not one there. Scooters are not e-bikes, so the US e-bike classes do not apply, and Pennsylvania does not allow e-scooters on public roads.

Battery and real range

The battery is 36 V and 5.2 Ah, which is 187.2 Wh, and Joyhis claims up to 15 miles "under optimal conditions", with no test conditions given. We estimate about 7 to 9 miles at full speed for a 175 to 180 lb rider, by dividing 187.2 Wh by 22 to 27 watt-hours per mile, a band from published full-speed tests. That is the same battery size as the Gotrax GXL V2 and the VOLPAM Q1. Charging takes about 5 hours, per the White option's table.

Ride, brakes and build

The seated options ride on 8.5-inch solid tires with no suspension (the White option's table says rigid), so the padded seat does the cushioning. Braking is an electronic EBS brake plus a rear drum, with no disc. The deck is aluminum, the rider limit is 265 lb, and the White option weighs 32 lb by its table; the Grey option gives no weight. No water rating is stated. A phone holder is included, and Joyhis gives a 1-year warranty.

Safety: UL 2272 and recalls

The listing states UL 2272; we could not verify it in the certifier's directory. The claim is "(UL 2272 Certified)" at the end of a bullet, with no lab named. That matters in New York City, where Local Law 39 requires e-scooters sold there to be certified to UL 2272, and in California, which has required UL 2272 battery testing for motorized scooters sold there since January 1, 2026. No CPSC recall found for the Joyhis JS01 as of October 2026. Our electric scooter safety guide covers what to check.

How it compares

  • Qlaway K078L ($174.99 as of Oct 22, 11:10 AM EDT, subject to change): the same 350 W, 19 mph, 8.5-inch recipe with a bigger 288.6 Wh battery (we estimate 11 to 13 miles against 7 to 9), and a seat that sits on an 11-liter storage box.
  • Gotrax A5 ($379.99 as of Oct 22, 11:10 AM EDT, subject to change): a scooter designed around the seat, with 12-inch air-filled tires, rear shocks, a basket and a 15.5 mph top speed, at 50.7 lb and a 220 lb limit.

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

Buy the JS01 if your rides are a few miles on smooth pavement, you want to sit for some of them, and you want a light scooter you can still fold into a car. Choose the Grey or White option. Skip it if you need more than about 7 miles at full speed, ride on rough streets, or live in New Jersey and want a legal e-scooter there. Our best electric scooters with a seat guide compares the seated picks.

Frequently asked questions

How far does the Joyhis electric scooter go?

About 7 to 9 miles at full speed for a 175 to 180 lb rider, by our estimate, against a claim of up to 15 miles. We divide its 187.2 Wh battery (36 V, 5.2 Ah) by 22 to 27 watt-hours per mile, a band from published full-speed tests. Riding slower stretches it; cold weather, hills and a heavier rider shrink it.

Does every Joyhis JS01 come with a seat?

No. One Amazon listing family sells seated and unseated options, plus options with suspension. On October 19, 2026 the Grey and White options showed the seat in their photos; the Pink option was titled "with Seat" but its photo showed none. Check the photo of the option you choose before buying.

How much weight can the Joyhis scooter carry?

Up to 265 lb, per the listing. The White option weighs 32 lb by its table. A heavier rider will get less range than our 7 to 9-mile estimate from the small 187.2 Wh battery.

Is the Joyhis scooter UL 2272 certified?

The listing states UL 2272; we could not verify it in the certifier's directory. It reads "(UL 2272 Certified)" with no testing lab named, and Joyhis has no website. No CPSC recall found for the Joyhis JS01 as of October 2026.

Joyhis or Qlaway: which seated scooter is better?

The Qlaway K078L on range: its 288.6 Wh battery gives about 11 to 13 miles by our estimate against 7 to 9 for the Joyhis, and its seat doubles as a storage box. The Joyhis has a conventional seat on a post and a phone holder. Both are 350 W, 19 mph, 8.5-inch solid-tire scooters with no suspension and a 265 lb limit, and neither maker has a website.
