Our verdict
The Qlaway K078L ($174.99 as of Oct 22, 11:10 AM EDT, subject to change) is a budget seated scooter with a bigger stated battery than its rivals: 288.6 Wh, which we estimate covers about 11 to 13 miles at full speed, under a seat that doubles as an 11-liter storage box. It has a 350 W motor (700 W peak), 19 mph, 8.5-inch honeycomb tires and no suspension, and it weighs 28 to 33.5 lb depending on which listing you read. Qlaway has no website; the listing says the scooter was UL 2272 tested, which we could not verify.

At a glance
How we estimate range
We estimate range by dividing the battery's capacity in watt-hours by 22 to 27 watt-hours per mile. That band comes from the middle half of 32 full-speed range tests that eRideHero and RiderGuide published for 26 commuter scooters, adjusted to a rider of about 175 to 180 lb on city streets with stops and small hills. We have not ridden these scooters ourselves. Makers that publish their test conditions rate range for a 150 to 165 lb rider at about 9 to 10 mph on flat pavement at 77°F; in the full-speed tests, scooters covered a median 59% of the advertised range. You will get less in the cold, on steep hills or if you weigh more, and more if you ride slower.
The numbers
Qlaway K078L Electric Scooter with Seat is a folding, seated electric scooter that scores 6.7/10 on our editorial rubric, last verified on October 19, 2026. Amazon listed it at $175 as of October 22, 2026. Prices change often, so treat that as a snapshot. On Amazon it currently ranks #43 Best Seller in Electric Scooters. It pairs a 350 W motor (700 W peak) and a 289 Wh battery, rated for a claimed range of up to 22 miles and a top speed of 19 mph. We estimate about 11 to 13 miles a charge for a 175 to 180 lb rider at full speed, because advertised ranges are measured with lighter riders at lower speeds. Its 19 mph top speed as shipped is above California's 15 mph scooter limit, so California riders must hold it to 15. New Jersey's legal e-scooter is a stand-up scooter, so a seated model is not one there. It is under New York's 20 mph e-scooter limit. Scooters are not e-bikes, so the US e-bike classes do not apply. The scooter weighs 28 lb and is rated for riders up to 265 lb. It rides on 8.5-inch honeycomb solid tires, with an electronic brake plus a rear drum brake. The seller states UL 2272 certification (on the Amazon listing or the maker's own site); we could not verify it in the certifier's directory. It best suits short errands where you want to sit and carry a bag.
Pros
- + The seat doubles as an 11-liter storage box
- + 288.6 Wh battery, more than the Joyhis JS01 (187.2 Wh) or Gyroor C1 (270 Wh)
- + 28 to 33.5 lb, light for a seated scooter
- + 350 W motor (700 W peak) with a 20% climb rating and cruise control
Cons
- - No suspension and solid tires, so the seat is the only cushioning
- - Two listing families disagree on weight (28 to 33.5 lb) and warranty (6 or 12 months)
- - No website, no water rating and no disc brake
- - Seated, so it is not New Jersey's legal e-scooter
Who is this for?
- Short errands where you want to sit and carry a bag
- Riders who need a seated scooter they can lift into a car
What the Qlaway K078L is
The K078L is a small folding kick scooter with a seat added: the seat sits on top of a detachable 11-liter storage box mounted at the back of the deck, so you can sit or stand, and carry a lock or groceries in the box. Qlaway sells on Amazon only, and the listing names Huizhou Xintaiming Technology Co. as the manufacturer. The same K078L appears in two Amazon listing families: the White-Yellow option we link, #42 in Electric Scooters on October 19, 2026 with 4.1 stars from 507 ratings, and the Gray-Orange and White-Orange options, #47 with 4.0 stars from 349.
The two families do not agree on everything. The one we link says 28 lb and a 6-month warranty; the other says 32 or 33.5 lb and 1 year. Only the second states the battery as 288.6 Wh and the motor's 700 W peak; the first gives 7.8 Ah, which matches. Both families also sell the K078, without the L: a smaller 5.2 Ah, 15-mile scooter. Check that the item details say K078L before you buy.

Speed, power and where you can ride it
Speed, power and where you can ride it
Qlaway lists a 350 W motor (700 W peak), a 19 mph top speed, a 20% climb rating, cruise control and app control. Its 19 mph top speed is under New York's 20 mph e-scooter limit, and New York's definition counts a scooter with a seat (VTL §114-e). It is above California's 15 mph limit (Vehicle Code §22411), so California riders must hold it to 15; California's definition covers a scooter with a floorboard to stand on or a seat and footrests in its place (§407.5). New Jersey's legal e-scooter is a stand-up scooter, so a seated model is not one there. Scooters are not e-bikes, so the US e-bike classes do not apply, and Pennsylvania does not allow e-scooters on public roads.
Battery and real range
Battery and real range
The battery is 288.6 Wh (37 V, 7.8 Ah) by the second family's listing, and Qlaway claims 22 miles with no test conditions. We estimate about 11 to 13 miles at full speed for a 175 to 180 lb rider, by dividing 288.6 Wh by 22 to 27 watt-hours per mile, a band from published full-speed tests. A heavier rider, hills and cold weather all cut range. Charging takes about 5 hours.
Ride, brakes and build
Ride, brakes and build
The K078L rides on 8.5-inch honeycomb solid tires, which cannot go flat, and has no suspension (the table says rigid), so the seat is the only cushioning: expect a firm ride on rough pavement. Braking is an electronic brake plus a rear drum, with no disc. There is a headlight and a warning taillight. No water rating is stated. The frame is aluminum, the rider limit is 265 lb (264 in one table), and it folds; the seat box detaches. At 28 to 33.5 lb it sits with the Joyhis JS01 (32 lb by its listing) as the lightest seated scooters we cover; the Gotrax A5 weighs 50.7 lb.
Safety: UL 2272 and recalls
Safety: UL 2272 and recalls
The listing states UL 2272; we could not verify it in the certifier's directory. The wording is "have been UL 2272 tested", with no lab named. That matters in New York City, where Local Law 39 requires e-scooters sold there to be certified to UL 2272, and in California, which has required UL 2272 battery testing for motorized scooters sold there since January 1, 2026. No CPSC recall found for the Qlaway K078L as of October 2026. Our electric scooter safety guide covers what to check.
How it compares
How it compares
- Joyhis JS01 ($169.99 as of Oct 22, 11:10 AM EDT, subject to change): the other budget seated scooter, also 350 W and 19 mph on 8.5-inch solid tires, with a conventional seat post instead of a seat box. Its 187.2 Wh battery is smaller, so we estimate 7 to 9 miles against 11 to 13.
- Gotrax A5 ($379.99 as of Oct 22, 11:10 AM EDT, subject to change): a seated scooter built around the seat, with 12-inch air-filled tires, rear shocks, a rear basket and Gotrax's support behind it, at 15.5 mph. It weighs 50.7 lb and carries 220 lb, and its listing gives no battery size.
Who should buy it, and who should skip it
Who should buy it, and who should skip it
Buy the K078L if you want to sit for part of a short ride, need somewhere to put a bag, and want a seated scooter light enough to lift: 28 to 33.5 lb against 50.7 lb for the Gotrax A5 and 60.4 lb for the Gotrax FLEX ULTRA. Skip it if your streets are rough (solid tires and no suspension), you ride in the rain, or you live in New Jersey and want a legal e-scooter there. Our best electric scooters with a seat guide compares it with the other seated picks.

Frequently asked questions
How far does the Qlaway electric scooter with a seat go?
About 11 to 13 miles at full speed for a 175 to 180 lb rider, by our estimate, against Qlaway's claim of 22 miles. We divide its 288.6 Wh battery (stated on Qlaway's second listing family) by 22 to 27 watt-hours per mile, a band from published full-speed tests. Riding slower stretches it; cold weather, hills and a heavier rider shrink it.
What is the box under the Qlaway seat?
A detachable 11-liter storage box, per the listing; the seat sits on top of it at the back of the deck. It holds a lock, tools or a small bag of groceries. With the box fitted you can still stand on the front of the deck.
How heavy is the Qlaway K078L, and how much weight can it carry?
The listing we link says 28 lb; the same K078L in Qlaway's other listing family says 32 or 33.5 lb. Either way it is far lighter than a sit-down scooter like the Gotrax A5 (50.7 lb). The rider limit is 265 lb.
Is a scooter with a seat legal?
In most states it follows the same scooter rules. New York's e-scooter definition includes a seat, and California's covers a scooter with a seat and footrests. New Jersey's legal e-scooter is stand-up only, so a seated model is not one there. At 19 mph the K078L is above California's 15 mph limit and under New York's 20 mph line. Pennsylvania does not allow e-scooters on public roads.
Is the Qlaway scooter UL 2272 certified?
The listing states UL 2272; we could not verify it in the certifier's directory. It says the scooters "have been UL 2272 tested", with no lab named, and Qlaway has no website. No CPSC recall found for the Qlaway K078L as of October 2026.
Wear a helmet on every scooter ride. US emergency rooms saw an estimated 79,300 e-scooter injuries in 2024, and only 18% of injured riders in CPSC's data were wearing one.
