Our verdict

6.5
/ 10

The FanttikRide C9 Pro ($146.99 at our last check) is a folding 10 mph kids' electric scooter for ages 8 to 12 and riders up to 132 lb. FanttikRide, the kids' line of the tool brand Fanttik, publishes a full manual for it: three speed modes, a 3 mph kick start, a 56.94 Wh battery rated at about 5 to 6.25 miles, an IPX4 rating and a 13.7 lb weight. Neither the listing nor FanttikRide states UL 2272, and it stops with its rear fender only, so it is not one of our kids' picks.

The numbers

FanttikRide C9 Pro Kids Electric Scooter is a folding kids' electric scooter for riders aged 8 to 12 that scores 6.5/10 on our editorial rubric, last verified on November 1, 2026. Amazon lists it at $146.99 right now. On Amazon it currently ranks #25 Best Seller in Electric Scooters. It pairs a 130 W motor and a 57 Wh battery, rated for a claimed range of up to 5 miles and a top speed of 10 mph. The scooter weighs 13.7 lb and is rated for riders up to 132 lb. It rides on 6-inch solid tires, with a rear fender foot brake that also trips a motor cut-off switch. Neither the listing nor the maker states UL 2272 certification. Follow the maker's age and weight limits and use a helmet every ride. It best suits kids of 8 to 12, about 4 ft to 5 ft 3 in and under 132 lb.

Pros

  • + A full maker manual: battery size, range test conditions, climb rating and IPX4
  • + Folds in one step to 29.7 × 14.8 × 10.4 inches
  • + Three speed modes from 5 mph, with a speed and battery display
  • + The motor needs a foot on the deck sensor and a 3 mph kick before it starts
  • + 6-inch solid rubber tires that cannot puncture, and 13.7 lb

Cons

  • - No UL 2272 claim from FanttikRide or on the listing
  • - Rear fender brake only, worked by foot; no hand brake
  • - Sources disagree on the middle speed, rider height, handlebar heights and battery
  • - 180-day warranty in the manual against a 12-month banner on FanttikRide's store
  • - The manual says not to ride at night or in the rain

Who is this for?

  • Kids of 8 to 12, about 4 ft to 5 ft 3 in and under 132 lb
  • Families who need a kids scooter that folds into a car trunk

What the FanttikRide C9 Pro is

FanttikRide is the kids' ride-on line of Fanttik, a brand best known for tire inflators and electric screwdrivers; its manual says the scooter is made in China. The C9 Pro is the middle of three C9 models. The plain C9 has two speeds and no rainbow lights or speed readout, the C9 Pro adds a third speed, a display that shows speed, battery and mode, and rainbow deck lights, and the C9 Apex adds a Bluetooth speaker. Make sure the listing you buy says C9 Pro: the plain C9 is a different scooter, and FanttikRide's own store charges less for it. On Amazon the C9 Pro comes in black, blue and pink, and its black listing was #26 in Amazon's Electric Scooters on November 1, 2026. We have not ridden it. The figures here come from FanttikRide's manual, its product page and the Amazon listing, and we print the places where they disagree.

Which child it fits

FanttikRide rates the C9 Pro for ages 8 to 12 (the manual says 8 and up, with no upper age) and riders up to 132 lb, and the manual also sets a 44 lb minimum. Its own warning is plain: not for riders under age 8 or heavier than 132 lb. Rider height is given three ways: 3.9 to 5.2 ft on Amazon, 4.0 to 5.3 ft on FanttikRide's page and 47.2 to 63 inches, about 3 ft 11 in to 5 ft 3 in, in the manual's spec table. The handlebar heights differ too: 31.7, 34.1 and 36.5 inches on Amazon, 32.5, 35 and 37.5 inches on FanttikRide's page. The fit is the same either way: a child from about 4 ft to 5 ft 3 in. It weighs 13.7 lb by the manual (14 lb on the product page) and folds in one step to 29.7 by 14.8 by 10.4 inches, compact enough for a car trunk.

Speed modes, the kick start and where kids can ride

There are three modes, changed with a quick press of the power button: E at 5 mph, N at 7.5 mph in the manual (8 mph on the listing and the product page) and S at 10 mph. The motor starts only when a sensor in the deck feels a foot and the scooter is already moving at 3 mph, so the child kicks off first. Start a new rider in E. The manual rates the climb at about 7%, so expect steep driveways to slow it. It is also stricter than most: it says not to ride at night or when visibility is poor, not to ride in the rain, and to keep to 3.1 to 6.2 mph over bumps and door sills. The rainbow deck lights help a child be seen at dusk; they are not a reason to ride after dark.

We treat every kids' electric scooter as something to ride with an adult nearby, on paths, driveways and quiet spaces away from traffic. Many states set a minimum age or a license rule for electric scooters on public roads; California, for example, requires a driver's license or instruction permit (Vehicle Code §21235). Check your town's rules on sidewalks and paths.

Battery, charging and range

The manual's spec table gives a 56.94 Wh battery at 21.9 V rated; the product page says 21.6 V and 2.5 Ah, which is 54 Wh. Range is given three ways as well: 5 miles and 40 to 60 minutes on the product page, 5 miles for a 110 lb child and up to 40 minutes on the Amazon listing, and about 6.25 miles in the manual, measured with no wind at 86°F. Plan on about 5 miles, and less in the cold: the manual says range can halve below -4°F and that charging should happen between 32°F and 122°F. Our usual range estimate is built from adult riders of 175 to 180 lb, so we do not apply it to kids' scooters.

A full charge takes about 5 hours. The manual names the charger's maker, Shenzhen Fuyuandian Power, and says to use only the recommended charger, and to check its cord and plug for damage before each charge. It also says to charge at least once a month in storage, because a battery left flat for a long time is damaged for good and that damage is not covered by the warranty, which matters if the scooter is bought in November and hidden until a birthday in spring. Let an adult do the charging, on a hard floor away from doors and exits, and unplug it when the light turns green.

Brakes and build

The C9 Pro stops with its rear fender: the child presses it onto the back wheel with a foot. Pressing the fender also trips a cut-off switch that stops the motor, which the manual's error table calls the electric brake. Both actions come from the same foot, and there is no hand brake. That is the second reason it is not one of our picks, which all have a hand or electronic brake. Practice stopping on a flat, empty surface until it is automatic, and tell your child to keep their foot off the fender while riding and not to touch it straight after a ride, as the manual warns.

The frame is aluminum alloy, and the 6-inch tires are solid rubber front and rear, so there is nothing to puncture or pump; FanttikRide describes no suspension. The manual gives an IPX4 rating, which covers splashes, while still saying not to ride in rain. The manual's warranty is 180 days of limited hardware cover; FanttikRide's own store shows a 12-month warranty banner, so keep your proof of purchase and ask which applies if you buy on Amazon.

Safety: UL 2272, recalls and helmets

Neither the Amazon listing's bullets, FanttikRide's product page nor the manual states UL 2272. UL 2272 is the fire and electrical safety standard for a scooter's whole electrical system. New York City has required it for e-scooters sold there since September 2023 (Local Law 39), and California has required UL 2272 battery testing for motorized scooters sold there since January 2026 (SB 1271). That missing claim is the main reason we leave the C9 Pro out of our best electric scooters for kids picks, all of which at least claim UL 2272. No CPSC recall found for FanttikRide or Fanttik as of November 2026.

The manual asks for an approved helmet with the chin strap buckled, plus elbow and knee pads, and it is right to. CPSC estimates e-scooters sent 79,300 people to US emergency rooms in 2024, and only 18% of injured riders in CPSC's data were wearing a helmet. California requires a helmet for motorized scooter riders under 18. Our scooter safety guide covers helmets, charging and how to search recalls.

How it compares

  • Gyroor H30 Max ($159.99 at our last check): for ages 6 to 12 and 132 lb, also with three modes up to 10 mph, plus a UL 2272 claim, an electronic brake on a hand button and a 2-hour charge. It does not fold, and Gyroor publishes no range.
  • Segway Ninebot C2 Pro ($279.99 at our last check): for ages 9 and up and 132 lb, it folds too, reaches 12.4 mph and has a hand-lever drum brake and Segway's statement that TÜV Rheinland tested it to UL 2272. It costs more.
  • Gyroor H40 ($169.99 at our last check): for ages 8 to 14 and 143 lb at 10 mph, with a UL 2272 claim on its listing and an electronic brake plus a foot brake.
  • LINGTENG E8 ($95.99 at our last check): for younger children of 6 to 9 at 4 or 6 mph, cheaper, with no UL 2272 claim either and a foot brake only.

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

Buy the C9 Pro for a child of 8 to 12, about 4 ft to 5 ft 3 in and under 132 lb, if a fold for the car trunk, a speed display and a maker manual with real numbers matter to you more than a safety-standard claim. As a gift, check the color before you buy: Amazon has sold the same C9 Pro at very different prices in black, blue and pink, and FanttikRide's own store charges more than the cheaper colors. Skip it if you want a UL 2272 claim or a hand brake; the Segway C2 Pro has both and also folds, and the Gyroor H30 Max has both with a hand-button electronic brake, though it does not fold.

Frequently asked questions

What age is the FanttikRide C9 Pro for?

Ages 8 to 12 on FanttikRide's product page and the Amazon listing, and 8 and up in the manual, which also says not for riders under 8. The rider limit is 132 lb, with a 44 lb minimum, and the manual's height range is 47.2 to 63 inches, about 3 ft 11 in to 5 ft 3 in.

Is a 10 mph scooter safe for a 9 year old?

Inside the maker's limits, it can be, if you set it up for a beginner. The C9 Pro's 10 mph is its S mode; start a 9 year old in E at 5 mph and move up once they start, steer and stop without thinking about it. The motor will not engage until the scooter is rolling at 3 mph with a foot on the deck. Ride with an adult nearby, away from traffic, and use a helmet every time.

Is the FanttikRide C9 Pro UL 2272 certified?

Neither the Amazon listing's bullets, FanttikRide's product page nor its manual states UL 2272, and that is the main reason it is not one of our kids' picks. If you want the claim, the Gyroor H30 Max, Gyroor H40 and Segway C2 carry one. No CPSC recall found for FanttikRide or Fanttik as of November 2026.

How far does the FanttikRide C9 Pro go on a charge?

About 5 miles, or 40 to 60 minutes, per FanttikRide and the listing, which ties the 5 miles to a 110 lb rider. The manual gives about 6.25 miles, measured with no wind at 86°F. A full charge takes about 5 hours, and the manual says range can halve in very cold weather.

What is the difference between the FanttikRide C9 and C9 Pro?

The C9 Pro adds a third speed mode (5, 8 and 10 mph on the listing, against the C9's 6 and 10), a display that shows your speed and rainbow deck lights. FanttikRide's comparison table gives both the same folded size, 132 lb limit, 8 to 12 age range and 5-mile range. The C9 Apex adds a Bluetooth speaker to the C9 Pro.
