Our verdict

/ 10

The NIU KQi2 Pro ($199.99 as of Oct 22, 11:10 AM EDT, subject to change, in white) is a brand-name scooter priced among Amazon's budget best sellers in October 2026, and strong on paper: 300 W rated (600 W peak), a 365 Wh battery, 10-inch tubeless tires and a 2-year warranty on the main body. The catch is that NIU's own US store shows it sold out and tagged OLD.

How we estimate range

We estimate range by dividing the battery's capacity in watt-hours by 22 to 27 watt-hours per mile. That band comes from the middle half of 32 full-speed range tests that eRideHero and RiderGuide published for 26 commuter scooters, adjusted to a rider of about 175 to 180 lb on city streets with stops and small hills. We have not ridden these scooters ourselves. Makers that publish their test conditions rate range for a 150 to 165 lb rider at about 9 to 10 mph on flat pavement at 77°F; in the full-speed tests, scooters covered a median 59% of the advertised range. You will get less in the cold, on steep hills or if you weigh more, and more if you ride slower.

The numbers

NIU KQi2 Pro Electric Scooter is a folding electric scooter for riders 14 and up that scores 7.2/10 on our editorial rubric, last verified on October 19, 2026. Amazon listed it at $200 as of October 22, 2026. Prices change often, so treat that as a snapshot. On Amazon it currently ranks #834 Best Seller in Electric Scooters. It pairs a 300 W motor (600 W peak) and a 365 Wh battery, rated for a claimed range of up to 24.9 miles and a top speed of 17.4 mph. We estimate about 14 to 17 miles a charge for a 175 to 180 lb rider at full speed, because advertised ranges are measured with lighter riders at lower speeds. Its 17.4 mph top speed as shipped is above California's 15 mph scooter limit, so California riders must hold it to 15. It is under New Jersey's 19 mph line for a legal e-scooter. It is under New York's 20 mph e-scooter limit. Scooters are not e-bikes, so the US e-bike classes do not apply. The scooter weighs 40.6 lb and is rated for riders up to 220 lb. It rides on 10-inch tubeless tires, with a front drum brake and a regenerative electric brake. The seller states UL 2272 certification (on the Amazon listing or the maker's own site); we could not verify it in the certifier's directory. It best suits riders 14 and up who want a brand-name scooter priced among Amazon's budget best sellers in October 2026, where state law allows (California requires a driver's license or permit; Pennsylvania bans e-scooters on public roads).

Pros

  • + 300 W rated, 600 W peak motor and a maker-stated 365 Wh battery
  • + 10-inch tubeless tires, IP54 and a 2-year warranty on the main body
  • + Halo headlight, brake light and cruise control through the NIU app

Cons

  • - Sold out and tagged OLD on NIU's US store
  • - 40.6 lb with no suspension
  • - Amazon figures conflict with NIU on top speed (15.4 vs 17.4 mph) and suspension

Who is this for?

  • Riders 14 and up who want a brand-name scooter priced among Amazon's budget best sellers in October 2026, where state law allows (California requires a driver's license or permit; Pennsylvania bans e-scooters on public roads)
  • Commuters whose round trip stays under about 14 miles

What it is

The KQi2 Pro is an older NIU commuter, still live on Amazon in white and gray while NIU's US store shows both colors sold out and tagged OLD. Its 2-year warranty covers the main body, but a model its maker no longer sells may be harder to find parts for. Its 365 Wh battery is nearly double the VOLPAM Q1's 187.2 Wh and about a third larger than the 270 Wh we work out for the SAIMNZE A11.

The facts that matter

  • Speed: NIU rates it at 17.4 mph; the white Amazon listing's bullets say 15.4 mph. 17.4 mph is under the 20 mph line in New York's e-scooter definition (VTL §114-e) and above California's 15 mph limit (Vehicle Code §22411). Scooters are not e-bikes, so the US e-bike classes do not apply. NIU sets the minimum rider age at 14.
  • Range: NIU claims 24.9 miles and publishes no test conditions. We estimate about 14 to 17 miles for a 175 to 180 lb rider at full speed.
  • Ride and build: 10-inch tubeless tires per NIU's spec table (its product description says 9.5-inch), no suspension (the Amazon product table claims one), IP54, a 15% climb rating, and 40.6 lb with a 220 lb rider limit.
  • Safety: NIU states UL 2272; we could not verify it in the certifier's directory. Neither Amazon listing makes a UL claim. No CPSC recall found for the NIU KQi2 Pro as of October 2026.

Who it suits

Riders 14 and up, under 220 lb who can carry 40.6 lb, where state law allows: California requires a driver's license or instruction permit, and Pennsylvania does not allow e-scooters on public roads. For a model its maker still sells, the Hiboy S2 ($299.98 as of Oct 22, 11:10 AM EDT, subject to change) is current at Hiboy and publishes its range test conditions, though its battery is smaller (270 or 280.8 Wh, depending on which Hiboy figure you read) and its 8.5-inch tires are honeycomb solid.

Frequently asked questions

Is the NIU KQi2 Pro discontinued?

NIU's own US store lists the KQi2 Pro as sold out in both colors and tags it OLD, while its white and gray Amazon listings were still in stock on October 18, 2026. NIU's warranty covers the main body (battery, charger, frame, motor, controller) for 2 years, accessories for 6 months and consumables for 3 months. Expect the Amazon stock to run out at some point.

How fast is the NIU KQi2 Pro?

NIU rates it at 17.4 mph; the white Amazon listing's bullets say 15.4 mph, and we go with the maker. That is under New York's 20 mph line for e-scooters but over California's 15 mph limit for motorized scooters, so a California rider has to hold it below full speed. Its 300 W rated motor peaks at 600 W, and NIU rates it for a 15% climb.

How far does the NIU KQi2 Pro go on a charge?

NIU claims up to 24.9 miles from the 365 Wh battery and does not publish its test conditions. We estimate about 14 to 17 miles for a 175 to 180 lb rider at full speed, by dividing the battery by 22 to 27 Wh per mile. Ride slower or weigh less and you will go further. A full charge takes about 7 hours.
