Quick answer: KS4 Pro or S2 Pro?

  • Check the two prices first. The Hiboy KS4 Pro was $399.98 (as of Oct 22, 11:10 AM EDT, subject to change) and the Hiboy S2 Pro $422.95 (as of Oct 22, 11:10 AM EDT, subject to change) on Amazon at our last check. On October 21, 2026 the KS4 Pro was the cheaper of the two.
  • They share the parts that matter. Same motor wheel, same replacement battery and charger, same brakes, tires and rear shocks, same 19 mph and same 25-mile claim on the same test conditions.
  • Buy the KS4 Pro if you want wider handlebars (18.9 in against 16.5 in) for more steering leverage.
  • Buy the S2 Pro if you want the narrower scooter: it folds to 16.7 inches wide against 18.9, and weighs 39.7 lb against 40.6 lb by the manuals.

What is actually the same?

Almost everything that costs money to make. Hiboy's parts catalogue sells a single "S2 Pro and KS4 Pro Front Wheel with Motor", a single replacement battery and charger for both, and a shared controller (it also lists a KS4 Pro-only one). Both are rated at 500 W, both carry the 36 V, 11.6 Ah pack, both claim 25 miles under the same footnote (a 165 lb load at a steady 11.4 mph, flat ground, 77°F, no wind), and both stop with a rear disc brake plus an electronic regenerative brake. Hiboy's KS4 Pro FAQ says the KS4 Pro adds that brake setup over the S2 Pro; the S2 Pro already has it. Both ride on 10-inch honeycomb tires with two rear shocks and a rigid front fork, and both are IPX4 with a 220 lb limit.

So what is different?

The cockpit. The KS4 Pro's handlebars are 18.9 inches wide against 16.5, which gives more steering leverage, and it has its own dashboard and stem. Hiboy rates its motor at 750 W peak against 600 W for the S2 Pro on the same motor-wheel part; the KS4 Pro's own controller may account for that, and we cannot tell, so we read it as a rating difference rather than a stronger motor. The KS4 Pro is a little heavier (40.6 lb against 39.7 lb in the manuals) and wider when folded, because of the bars. Hiboy's climb figures differ too: about 15 in the KS4 Pro manual's percent column, about 17% in the S2 Pro manual, on the same motor and battery.

Which goes further on a charge?

Neither: both carry a 36 V, 11.6 Ah (417.6 Wh) battery, and Hiboy sells one replacement pack for both, so the range is the same. Ebike Oracle estimates about 15 to 19 miles a charge at full speed for a 175 to 180 lb rider, by dividing the battery's watt-hours by 22 to 27 watt-hours per mile, a band from published full-speed tests. Hiboy's 25-mile claim for both is measured at 11.4 mph with a 165 lb rider. Riding in Drive mode (13 mph) adds some; hills and cold weather cut it.

Which is easier to carry and store?

The S2 Pro, slightly: 39.7 lb against 40.6 lb by Hiboy's manuals, and it folds to 16.7 inches wide against 18.9, which matters in a car trunk or under a desk. Amazon's item details say 35.9 lb for the S2 Pro (Hiboy's own table on that listing says 39.7) and the KS4 Pro listing says 38.5 lb; we use the manuals.

How fast do they go, and where can you ride them?

Both reach 19 mph in Sport mode and about 13 mph in Drive. That is within New York's 20 mph e-scooter definition (VTL §114-e) and above California's 15 mph limit (Vehicle Code §22411), so California riders should use Drive mode; California also requires a driver's license or instruction permit and a helmet under 18. New Jersey's legal e-scooter must be under 19 mph, a line both sit right on, and Pennsylvania does not allow e-scooters on public roads. Scooters are not e-bikes, so the e-bike classes do not apply.

Are they certified, and have they been recalled?

The paperwork is a tie. Each Hiboy product page links its own UL LLC certificates of compliance: for the KS4 Pro, UL 2272 certificate UL-US-2402077-1 and UL 2271 certificate UL-US-2348387-0; for the S2 Pro, UL 2272 certificate UL-US-2424320-0 and UL 2271 certificate UL-US-2423198-0. UL 2272 covers each scooter's electrical system and UL 2271 the battery pack. We could not check the numbers in UL's directory, which needs a login. New York City requires UL 2272 for e-scooters sold there. No CPSC recall found for either scooter as of October 2026.

Who should buy which?

Buy the Hiboy KS4 Pro if it is the cheaper one when you check (it was on October 21, 2026), or if you want wider handlebars for more steering leverage.

Buy the Hiboy S2 Pro if it is the cheaper one, or if you store the scooter somewhere narrow and want the smaller fold and the lighter weight. If you need more range or a softer ride than either offers, the NIU KQi 300P adds front suspension, air tires, disc brakes at both ends and a 486.7 Wh battery.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Hiboy KS4 Pro better than the S2 Pro?

Not mechanically: Hiboy sells one motor wheel, one replacement battery and one charger for both, and they share the 19 mph top speed, 25-mile claim, 10-inch honeycomb tires, rear shocks, brakes, IPX4 and 220 lb limit. The KS4 Pro has wider 18.9-inch handlebars; the S2 Pro is 0.9 lb lighter and narrower when folded. Buy whichever is cheaper unless the handlebar width matters to you.

Do the Hiboy KS4 Pro and S2 Pro have the same motor?

The same part, yes. Hiboy sells a single "S2 Pro and KS4 Pro Front Wheel with Motor" and rates both at 500 W. It quotes a higher peak for the KS4 Pro, 750 W against 600 W, on the same motor-wheel part. Hiboy also lists a KS4 Pro-only controller, which may account for it, so we read it as a rating difference, not proof of a stronger motor.

Which goes further, the KS4 Pro or the S2 Pro?

Neither: both use a 36 V, 11.6 Ah (417.6 Wh) battery, and Hiboy sells one replacement pack for both. Ebike Oracle estimates about 15 to 19 miles at full speed for a 175 to 180 lb rider. Hiboy claims 25 miles for both, measured at a steady 11.4 mph with a 165 lb rider.

Which Hiboy scooter is UL certified?

Both. Hiboy links UL LLC certificates of compliance from each product page: for the KS4 Pro, UL 2272 certificate UL-US-2402077-1 for the scooter and UL 2271 certificate UL-US-2348387-0 for the battery; for the S2 Pro, UL 2272 certificate UL-US-2424320-0 and UL 2271 certificate UL-US-2423198-0. We could not check the numbers in UL's directory, which needs a login. New York City requires UL 2272 for e-scooters sold there.

Does either of them have front suspension?

No. Both have two rear shocks and a rigid front fork, on 10-inch solid honeycomb tires, so both ride firmly over cracks. For front suspension and air tires, the NIU KQi 300P and the Segway Max G2 are the steps up.
